The Sacrament of Anointing of the Sick is a sacred moment when the Church comes alongside those suffering serious illness, injury, or decline in health. Through prayer, the laying on of hands, and anointing with blessed oil, this sacrament brings the grace of the Holy Spirit — granting peace, courage, spiritual healing, and when it is God’s will, physical restoration. 

It is not only for those at the moment of death; beginning as soon as someone is “in danger due to sickness or old age,” the sacrament may be repeated if an illness worsens or a new serious condition arises.
