Dear Parishioners of St. Elizabeth Seton,

It was C.S. Lewis that commented “progress means getting nearer to the place you want to be.”  This is what has driven our renovation team over the past week as our focus is on finishes.  While we have worked on structural and the functional foundation of the remodel, our finishes will define the durability, beauty, and daily comfort for all the parishioners.

Finishes does not mean just little things but sometimes relates to very key changes.  You may have noted the new exterior Adoration Chapel door being installed. This new door provides natural light in the chapel, while providing those in Adoration a sense of security knowing if someone is just outside or entering. We are now focusing on new stucco and wall repair both inside and outside of the chapel to make sure the area looks like new.

From our earliest design, we shared that a ramp would be installed up to the sanctuary for our Music Ministers, Lectors, Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion, and Altar Servers. This past week we completed the installation of the ramp and handrails. The handrails are functional, sturdy, attractive and allow safe passage for all our servers.

This week has also brought about a focus on the smaller projects that will make a big difference. When you tour the renovated church, you may or may not notice the electrical outlets have been replaced with new duplex outlets and face plates. If you turn on a light, you will use a new light switch, and you can effectively hold a door open with a new doorstop. We have benefited greatly with the help of our newest team member, Werner Van Dyke who has used his skills and knowledge to move these and other projects along.

We are diligently moving ahead, one step at a time, excited that soon you will be able to see the progress, from the big finishes to the little things that renew our sacred space and return us to worship and prayer in our renovated St. Elizabeth Seton Catholic Church.

In Christ and with gratitude,

Dr. Kathleen H. Goeppinger
