Dear Parishioners of St. Elizabeth Seton

This week, please join me in celebrating the importance of finding and trusting the right team. After almost three weeks of worrisome delays in the preparation of our church floor for tile, we searched for a new flooring contractor. Four companies applied for our work, but one stood out as experienced, knowledgeable and fully staffed with experts in floor restoration and finishing work.  Headed by German Acosta, he proudly shares that he has done three other church floors and was excited to have St. Elizabeth Seton as his fourth restoration.

They began on Friday, June 25 and as I write this on July 3, the entire floor of the nave is almost completely covered with beautiful tile.  Over 10 individuals have been on site every day, (once again we have family teams) who have years of experience setting tile.  It is difficult work.  They lift heavy tile, mix mortar (a combination of concrete, sand and water) and cut and set the tile.  I have such admiration for their skill.  They spend the entire day on their knees making sure every cut and every tile is perfectly placed and spaced.  They truly are the laborers in the field.  We as a congregation are so blessed to have them diligently working together to complete the monumental flooring task and keep us on schedule.

This flooring contractor understood our mission, values and expressed gratitude for working at St. Elizabeth Seton Catholic Church. As we fulfill our role as laborers the field, may we also do it with the same dedication and diligence.  At the end of a long and very busy day, I thanked a member of the team, Francisco, and commented, “you worked really hard today.”  He just smiled with pride and said, “I like to work in God’s house.”  I pray that all of us are proud to say, “I like to work in God’s house.”

In Christ and with Gratitude,
